Also known as Kozhikode, Calicut was the erstwhile capital of the Malabar region and a major center for the spice trade. Its claim to fame is from the landing of Vasco Da Gama 15kms to the north in Kappad in 1498. It’s also the perfect place to enter Wayanad. Located in the northeast region of Kerala, Wayanad is a predominantly hilly terrain surrounded by Karnataka on the north and Tamil Nadu to the southeast. It completely lies in the green Western Ghats.

One of the best Wayanad tourist places is Pookode Lake. It’s a natural freshwater lake surrounded by a lot of greenery and has options for boating and cycling.

Have an early breakfast and leave for Kuruwa Dweep. Kuruwa Island is 955 acres of green forest along the banks of the tributaries of the east-flowing Kabini river.
